Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Mappetite is a private, dish-first food journal. This policy describes the free first release. It reflects what the app actually does today — not future features.
What Mappetite stores
- Your journal entries: dish name, restaurant, 1–10 score, optional note, optional category, optional city/country, optional coordinates and an optional photo. These are private by default.
- Your account identity (when sign-in is enabled): an email-based identity managed by our authentication provider. Mappetite keeps its own profile and username; it is not linked to any other app's social profile.
Local device preview
Before you sign in, Mappetite runs as a local device preview: your entries are saved only in this browser on this device and are not uploaded, synced or shared. Clearing your browser data deletes them. Sample entries are clearly labelled and are not real data.
Location and photos
Location and photos are optional. GPS is only used when you explicitly request it for a meal; Mappetite does not track you in the background. A photo you add is used only to illustrate your own entry.
Processors we rely on
When cloud features are enabled, Mappetite uses Supabase (authentication and database/storage), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (transactional email such as sign-in and password-reset messages). These providers process data only to deliver the service.
Sharing
Entries are never public by default and there is no public restaurant rating. Any sharing is opt-in and limited to groups you choose. The free release adds no advertising and no payment processing.
Deleting your data
You can delete your Mappetite data; see Account deletion. Deleting your Mappetite data removes only your Mappetite journal, profile and related records — it does not delete any other app's data.
